 |  | Chesapeake Academy and Severn School to Join 1/24/2013
January 23, 2013 - The Board of Trustees of Severn School in Severna Park and the Board of Trustees of Chesapeake Academy in Arnold have signed an agreement to merge the two schools.
The joined institution will be called Severn School and will provide seamless, high-quality, independent education for students from preschool through grade 12. The agreement will be effective July 1, 2013.
"We've long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with Chesapeake Academy, welcoming students into our Middle School and sharing a reciprocal faculty tuition remission", reflected Severn School Headmaster Doug Lagarde. "While the idea of joining forces with Chesapeake Academy is not new, the timing is now ideal."

(May 11, 2012, Arnold, MD)--Learning about the sacrifices, efforts and risks that immigrants have taken over the years in their effort to reach America may be common curriculum for many social studies students. But fourth-graders at Chesapeake Academy took their studies a giant leap forward this week, becoming the only school in Anne Arundel County invited into the United States District Court for the State of Maryland to participate in an official naturalization ceremony.

The Bids for Kids Auction Party was held on Saturday, April 21st and raised over $170,000 to directly support the boys and girls of Chesapeake Academy.

   | Avy Aubin Wins Earth Day Poster Contest 3/21/2012
Current CA third grader Avy Aubin has just been notifed she is a winner in the Environmental Protection Agency's 2011 Earth Day Poster Contest for the Mid-Atlantic region. Her work, winner in the "Endangered Species" category, promotes stopping global warming. Congratulations Avy!

Students in 4th and 5th grade showcased their spelling skills and sportsmanship as we worked our way through 157 words! David Seidl (5th grade) correctly spelled "telepathic" to become CA's 2012 Champion.

    | 5th Graders Zumba to the Beat in Spanish and P.E. 12/13/2011 What do you get when you cross a Chesapeake Academy Spanish class with a P.E. lesson in the gym? Fifth grade Zumba of course! Spanish teacher Lucy Petros and P.E. teacher Jesssica Burke combined their efforts to host this “Latin-inspired, calorie-burning, dance fitness party” that both exhilarated and exhausted students and teachers alike.

   | Basketball Update: Girls Win Inaugural Game, Boys Fight Hard 12/12/2011
The inaugural Chesapeake Academy girls basketball team made a strong first showing, winning over Generals’ Highway, 28-8 this past Saturday. They represented our school magnificently in the debut of the first girls athletic team in our school’s history.

  | Brendan Murphy Wins Geography Bee 12/12/2011
Brendan Murphy won the Geography Bee last Friday in dramatic fashion. The runner-up was Ian Sykes and third place went to Sara Mooradian. Other awesome participants included Annie Bennett, Jillian North, Nick Angelino, and Lacey Eden.
