Chesapeake Academy and Severn School to Join

January 23, 2013 - The Board of Trustees of Severn School in Severna Park and the Board of Trustees of Chesapeake Academy in Arnold have signed an agreement to merge the two schools.

The joined institution will be called Severn School and will provide seamless, high-quality, independent education for students from preschool through grade 12. The agreement will be effective July 1, 2013.

"We've long enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with Chesapeake Academy, welcoming students into our Middle School and sharing a reciprocal faculty tuition remission", reflected Severn School Headmaster Doug Lagarde. "While the idea of joining forces with Chesapeake Academy is not new, the timing is now ideal."

CHESAPEAKE ACADEMY FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS EXPERIENCE IMMIGRATION FIRST HAND IN MARYLAND COURT

(May 11, 2012, Arnold, MD)--Learning about the sacrifices, efforts and risks that immigrants have taken over the years in their effort to reach America may be common curriculum for many social studies students. But fourth-graders at Chesapeake Academy took their studies a giant leap forward this week, becoming the only school in Anne Arundel County invited into the United States District Court for the State of Maryland to participate in an official naturalization ceremony.

Auction Party Raises Over $170,000!

Avy Aubin Wins Earth Day Poster Contest

Current CA third grader Avy Aubin has just been notifed she is a winner in the Environmental Protection Agency's 2011 Earth Day Poster Contest for the Mid-Atlantic region. Her work, winner in the "Endangered Species" category, promotes stopping global warming. Congratulations Avy!

David Seidl Wins Spelling Bee

5th Graders Zumba to the Beat in Spanish and P.E.

Chesapeake Academy Launches Girls Basketball to Join Championship Winning Boys Basketball Tradition

Chesapeake Academy’s very first girls basketball team debuted their talent, sportsmanship and teamwork this week with a winning 28-8 matchup against General’s Highway. The team, which is the first girls county athletic team in the school’s 30-year history, is comprised of fourth and fifth grade girls playing in the Anne Arundel 10U County League.
